News from PANUG/BizNix - March 18, 2004 http://panug.org - http://biznix.org We've had people subscribe to the list today, so here's another reminder about tonight's meeting: PANUG MEETING The March PANUG meeting is tonight at 6:15 pm. The main presentation is Nessus - a client/server security scanner (similar to Satan and Saint) that scans computers for security vulnerabilities. Nessus is entirely open source and the graphical client piece can run on Linux/Unix or Windows. Undoubtedly, there will be discussion of the Windows Trojan called PhatBot. It is described as "a virtual Swiss Army knife of attack software" that can be used for DDoS attacks and sending spam but is capable of so much more. You can think of Phatbot as essentially another operating system running inside Windows that you don't control and may not be aware of. The meeting is at the usual place (Novell's office in Tigard). If this is your first time attending a meeting, directions are on the PANUG web site - click the Meetings link. Please RSVP by responding to this message so we can order enough pizza.
