News from PANUG/BizNix - September 19, 2003 http://panug.org - http://biznix.org BOGUS MICROSOFT SECURITY PATCH Earlier today, Microsoft sent an e-mail message that notified users about a Windows security patch. A few minutes ago, we received what appeared to be the same message but it included the security patch as an attachment. Clearly, this is a bogus message that did not come from Microsoft. We know that you won't be fooled but your users may be. FEEDBACK Robert L. Brown and Russ Washington have written in to say that the Internet Software Consortium have patched BIND9 to eliminate the problems caused by the Verisign wildcard issue. http://www.isc.org/products/BIND/delegation-only.html Submitted by Scott Hoffman: To paraphrase Arlo Guthrie, "And can you, can you imagine 30 billion a year, I said 30 billion XP crashes a year sending their reports to Redmond and rebooting" http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,4149,1210067,00.asp DISCLAIMER PANUG and BizNix welcome contributions from all members.
