BIZNIX MEETING

The monthly BizNix meeting is tomorrow night, March 13, 2003
at Novell's office in Tigard. The meeting starts at 6:30 pm.
Directions are on the BizNix Web site at http://www.biznix.org.

One presentation will cover recent Internet surveys that
reveal the pretty sad state of Internet DNS. We'll cover the
survey results as well as the reasons why these problems exist
and simple solutions to the problems. If your business depends
on the Web, e-mail, or other Internet services that rely on DNS
names, you'll want to attend.

We'll also discuss the implications of the recent suit that
SCO has filed against IBM for patent and intellectual
property-related issues.

Lastly, we've invited a presenter to speak about the Jave
Security Model and the control system administrators have
over the security of Java applications that were written
with security in mind. If he agrees to do the presentation,
he'll likley speak about Java Web Start applications as well.

PANUG MEETING

Next week's PANUG meeting will include a vote on adopting
new Bylaws. You can read the ByLaws by visiting the PANUG
web site.

MEDIA LONGEVITY

Carla Schroeder, a sometimes PANUG/BizNix meeting goer,
has written an article that deals with the longevity
of data storage media. Very well written.

with its partner Ximian, and we'll enter you in a drawing
to win a pair of very cool Bose Noise Reducing Headphones
(approx $300 value). Take the survey here:
