News from PANUG/BizNix - February 13, 2003 http://panug.org - http://biznix.org BIZNIX MEETING Tonight is the monthly BizNix meeting. It starts at 6:30 at Novell's office. Directions to the meeting are on the BizNix web site. Bayesian filtering has been a popular topic in recent weeks and we're going to cover it at the meeting. In case you haven't heard, it's a technique that suppresses spam mail through statistical analysis. So far, it's been portrayed as a "good thing" with nobody pointing out the downside. The discussion at the meeting should lead to a more balanced view. We'll also take a quick look at UnitedLinux, a Linux distribution for servers. We have a few copies of the SCO Linux Server distribution on CD-ROM that's based on UnitedLinux. You can bring your computer and install it during the meeting. INTEGRATING WINDOWS AND LINUX PANUG and BizNix are hosting a 2-day course that shows you how to get Windows and Linux to work together in a network. The course is March 11-12 from 8:30 to 4:30. A detailed course description and outline will be available soon. The course costs $395 but PANUG and BizNix members get a $25 discount. You can register by phoning 503-635-6370. Note that many of the concepts, techniques, and software that's covered also applies to Mac OS X. While the course will focus on Windows and Linux, much of it also applies to OS X and Linux.
