News from PANUG/BizNix - January 14, 2003 http://panug.org - http://biznix.org PANUG MEETING TOMORROW Thursday, Jabuary 16, 2003 at 6:15 pm is PANUG's monthly meeting. The main presentation will be the Mac OS X operating system and applications. OS X is not only based on a Unix core but also microkernel architecture. If your experience with Macs is OS 9 or earlier, OS X obsoletes all that. Mac users can run older pre-OS X applications, current OS X applications, and virtually anything developed for Unix/Linux and X. Additionally, Apple has made OS X an Open Source operating system under the name Darwin, that runs on PC hardware. In the future, you might still be running Intel- based computers but it may be an Apple operating system powering it. And why not? Who does sexy, user-friendly, graphical interfaces better than Apple? If you have Apple experience, come on down to the meeting and help answer questions.
