News from PANUG/BizNix - January 09, 2003 http://panug.org - http://biznix.org BIZNIX MEETING TONIGHT Tonight is the monthly BizNix meeting. The meeting starts at 6:15 with pizza and refreshments. It's held at Novell's office in Tigard. Directions are on the BizNix web site at http://www.biznix.org. Click the Meetings link. We'll have a Question & Answer session where any topics relating to Linux or Unix may be discussed. This session is newbie-friendly - nobody is going to give you a hard time for asking questions that are basic, using a particular Linux distribution, or saying that you like emacs. If you say that you like Windows, you're on your own. The main presentation will be about Linux disk performance and benchmarks for testing performance. This will cover issues such as eliminating the effects of the memory cache on benchmark results. If you've never been to a BizNix meeting before, you can attend once without having to become a member or pay a fee. DUES ARE DUE Membership in both PANUG and BizNix is calendar year. Here's a quick review of the details: For the vast majority of you, your dues are now due. Dues are $35 for the year for either user group. If you wish to joing both groups, the cost is only $50 - a $20 savings. If you're a full-time student or unemployed, you can join either group for $15. If you become employed during the year, you must pay the balance of the normal membership fee at that time. If you want to join both groups, the fee is $30. When you join, you'll receive our attractive PANUG/BizNix coffee cup. (Hey, we're proud of it.) You can join at the meeting if you pay by cash or check. If you want to pay by credit card, call ALC at 503-635-6370. INTERESTING WEB SITE http://www2.incredimail.com/multimedia/flash/new_year4.swf
