FEEDBACK

Raymond L. Robert responds to the JUDGE SAYS WEB SITES NOT
SUBJECT TO ADA article in the October 25 broadcast:

Don't take Florida court cases too seriously.

Government Web sites are required to be handicapped-accessible
under an entirely different law, Section 508 of the
Rehabilitation Act Amendments of 1998. It has never been
widely believed that ADA applied to Web sites. IBM has a good
discussion of the issue at
http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/library/us-tang/?dwzone=usability.

The Judge's comment in footnote 1 that there are "no well-defined,
generally accepted standards" for accessibility must have come as
news to the U.S. Access Board, which writes accessibility standards
for the ADA and Section 508.
