News from PANUG - June 21, 2001 LINUX INSIDE Another reminder that PANUG is co-hosting the Linux Inside event this Saturday at 9:00 am at Novell's office. There will be lots of demos. You'll see, for example, a demo of VNC - an open source software package that provides functionality similar to PC Anywhere except that nearly ANY machine running nearly ANY operating system can be used at either end of the communications link. For example, a Palm Pilot could view and control a PC running Windows 2000; a Windows 98 PC could view and control a Linux PC; students in a classroom could bring whatever computers they own to class and tune in to the instructor's computer running nearly any operating system. If you've any doubt about whether Open Source software stifles innovation, as Microsoft claims, Linux Inside will help show you the reality.
