PROPOSAL FOR BOARD CHANGES
Several times in the past PANUG Boards have discussed
solutions to the perennial problem of getting members
to serve on the Board of Directors every year. One
solution that seems acceptable to everyone who's ever
been part of these discussions is extending the Board's
term to two years. Here's the proposal:
1. The term of the Board is two years.
2. Board members can resign at any time by serving notice
(this can happen now so this is not really a part of
this proposal).
3. A Board member will be considered to have resigned if
he or she does not take part in Board business for
six weeks and cannot be contacted (after several
attempts by both email and telephone) to find out why.
4. If a Board member resigns, PANUG will ask for
volunteers to fill the position. If there is more
than one volunter, the membership will vote to choose
one. If a volunteer cannot be found, this will not
cripple the Board's ability to conduct business.
5. This takes effect now; with the present Board.

ELECTRONIC DOMAIN NAME MONITORING AGAIN
Several months ago, we warned you about the scam involving
Electronic Domain Name Monitoring Service in Toronto. The
company tried to get people to register .NET and .ORG
versions of their domain names. In February, the US Federal
Trade Commission obtained a court order stopping the
company from doing this. You can read the announcement
on ICANN's web site at the folowing URL:

THE EVOLUTION OF A PROGRAMMER
We received a humorous article titled "The Evolution of
a Programmer" from one of the folks at AutoDesk. You can
